Our gloves are smaller than most all other gloves on the market – that is the point! People expect gloves to be “too big” for their little one’s hands so when they get a glove that fits, they think it is too small. At ZipperBack Gloves, we have devised a system of measurement that is an estimate based on averages. No two children are alike nor are any two hands! Our sizing system is not perfect but it is certainly more of a guide than any other manufacturer of children’s snow gloves will provide.

How do I know what size gloves to get for my child? In general, you can estimate by their age. The age estimates are based on averages which means if your child is not small or big for their age, these estimates will come close.

Child’s Size Gloves:
Age 2 – Size *XS – See note on 2 year olds below.
Age 3 – Size SM-MD
Age 4 – Size MD
Age 5/6 – Size LG-XL

Youth Size Gloves:
Age 6/7 – Size SM
Age 8/9 – Size MD
Age 10/11 Size LG

The most accurate way to size your child for ZipperBack Gloves is to measure their hand from the base of their hand (where the wrist begins) up to the tip of the middle finger. Here is the breakdown of measurements:

Child Size Gloves:
Up to 5 3/4 inches - XL
Up to 5 1/2 inches - LG
Up to 5 inches - MD
Up to 4 1/2 inches - SM
Up to 4 inches - XS

Youth Size Gloves:
Up to 6 1/4 inches – SM
Up to 6 1/2 inches – MD
Up to 7 inches – LG

Measurements coming. Primarily for children under 2 years old.

*Note for children 2 years old and younger:2 year olds struggle to keep their fingers straight to get them in the holes. As soon as there is any resistence, they bend their fingers, it’s a developmental issue. 3 year olds can put ZipperBack Gloves on themselves, that extra year makes a world of difference. If you want to try ZipperBack Gloves for your 2 year old, try the smalls and work with your child, but don’t be discouraged if he or she can’t do it just yet.

Next season (2011-2012) we will have adult sizes for both men and women. Those measurements will be added when the gloves are available.
